Research in both Canada and the U.S.A. has conformed that properly fitted log walls enjoy an energy-conserving "mass effect". The logs act like solar collectors - absorbing heat during the day, and releasing it into the home gradually overnight.
In one test conducted by the National Bureau of Standards (U.S.A.) a log building in Washington, D.C. used 24% LESS cooling energy in the summer than the insulated wood frame building.

Although Atlantic Logworks is a custom manufacturer of Scandinavian Scribe-Fit Log homes and cottages, we will engineer and assemble any design requested by the customer. We offer 100% complete "turn key" packages or "do it yourself" basic shell kits.
HandSelected Top-Quality Logs
Atlantic Logworks carefully selects and harvests only the straightest, top-quality logs and air-dries them for a minimum 6-month period. Wall logs of pine, spruce or cedar usually range from 10 to 14 inches in diameter, but at the request of the client, they can be as small as 8" or as large as 16". Superior Features
One feature of the Scandinavian system is that each log is individually scribed and cut to fit the exact contours of the log below it. Only the underside of each log is cut so that cavities are self-draining and cannot accumulate moisture. The system has no exposed log abuttments, resulting in a stronger, lasting structure.
